Olinghouse District Gold

This now-famous crystallized gold district is located about 45 minutes east of where I live in Washoe County, Nevada. It is one of my favorite Nevada localities. I have the Rocks & Minerals magazine article I published back in the Gold Issue, Jan-Feb 2004, on my web site for all to enjoy!

Olinghouse Gold Miniature (Au-1048), 6.5 x 3.5 x 3.5cm, SOLD
A very bright and attractive specimen with a 4.5 x 2.0cm surface covered by leafy gold wire nests, averaging 2mm thick, all on a quartz-crystal drused andesite matrix. This is a choice specimen.
Olinghouse Gold (OH-929), 3.5 x 3.5 x 1.5cm, SOLD

A nice toenail specimen with a 1cm-tall, 0.8cm-wide"V" shaped gold wire formation growing on the right-center of a 2.5 x 2.0cm nest of gold. The quartz-drused matrix is a bit darker in color, making for better contrast against the gold wires.
